Brechin Leisure Centre is one of many businesses taking part in the Angus wide Doors Open Day event this Saturday and Sunday.

The leisure facility will be holding free activities for adults and children across the two days, but staff have advised that booking is essential for all sessions.

However, anyone can pop down and have a tour and induction in the fitness suite.

Speaking about the event, a spokesperson for the centre commented: “Doors Open Day allows non members the opportunity to see what we have on offer. It gives people the opportunity, free of charge, to take a look at our facilities.

“Members are asked to bring along anyone who does not normally use our facility. Starting a fitness program may be one of the best things you can do for your health. Physical activity can reduce your risk of chronic disease, improve your balance and coordination, help you lose weight - even improve your sleep habits and self-esteem.

“We are here to help. Start your journey to a healthy lifestyle for a lifetime.”

The open day event will also see free swimming at the pool between 9 and 10 a.m.

On Saturday (September 14) the centre will have four workout classes - including body pump, body balance, body dive, bums and tums and kettlercise amongst others.

Sessions will last 20 minutes and are used to provide a taster of what is available. Anyone interested in joining the sessions, which run from 9.30 to 11.30 a.m., can book a place at reception or by contacting 01356 623088.

The centre will also be holding mini fitness tests, complete with blood pressure checks from 12 to 2 p.m., and HIIT fit times challenges from 2 to 3 p.m.

During the day there will also be a recipe corner at the centre. The spokesperson explained: “Bored of cooking the same old thing and looking for fresh ideas? What may be a fail-safe staple to you could be exactly what someone else needs to add to their repertoire.”

On Sunday, the centre will have taster sessions for trampolining, short tennis, active dance (for ages five to 12-year-olds) as well as a bouncy castle session at 3 p.m.

For more information, please contact the centre on 01356 623088.
