Local youngsters in world drumming contest

Three young drummers, from the City of Brechin Pipe Band travelled to Glasgow on Saturday to take part in the world tenor drumming contest.

Beth Ritchie, Beth Guthrie and Robyn Laird all played well but were unlucky not to make it into the top six.

Their tutor Paul McAndrew was very happy with the result.

It is now all back to business with the band getting some new tunes ready for the new season which starts next May.

In the meantime the band will hold their annual general meeting on Thursday, October 25, in band hall at 7 for 7.30 p.m. All welcome.

The band is aways on the lookout for new members.

There are actually two bands - those playing in grade 4 and those in grade 3.

If you are interested in playing in either of the bands and would like more information visit their website at http://cityofbrechinpipeband.co.uk/ or call in at the band hall on a Tuesday or Thursday at 7.30 p.m. for the grade 3 band or on a Wednesday from 7 p.m. for new beginners or players interested in playing for the grade 4 band.

As well as playing with the band, members also compete in solo competitions under the band name.
