Members and visitors to Brechin’s Parkview Bowling club are now able to enjoy new tables and chairs thanks to a grant given to the club.
The club, whose previous tables and chairs were in need of an upgrade, applied to Angus Council’s Community Grant scheme for funding to allow them to purchase new furniture.
Club secretary, Susan MacLeod said: “We had to get quotes for the cost of the new items and it came within the bracket of the grant.
“We were invited to an event in Forfar aimed at helping fill in the application. Club treasurer Jim Craig and myself went along to it and the Community Grant scheme staff couldn’t have been more helpful.”
The club was awarded a grant of £2,858.16 which allowed them to buy 10 armchairs, 60 stacking chairs, six round tables and six banquet tables.
The club donated their old chairs to a care home in Inverbervie.
It’s not the first grant the club have received from the scheme.
Susan explained: “We got a grant about four or five years ago to purchase a new lawnmower.
“Hopefully if people see that we were able to get a grant it will encourage more groups in Brechin to apply.”
