Next talk for NTS group

THE NEXT afternoon talk organised by the National Trust for Scotland (NTS) Angus Members’ Centre is on Thursday, January 17, at 2:30 p.m. in the Guide Hall, Myre Car park, Forfar.

The talk, focusing on the NTS School of Heritage Gardening, will be delivered by Sinclair Williamson who is a Gardens Advisor at the School of Heritage Gardening.

The School of Heritage Gardening runs courses in the practical gardening skills required to look after the type of historic garden in the Trust’s care. A variety of different full time courses and apprenticeships are offered, covering one or more years and aimed at building on the knowledge gained from more academic horticulture qualifications.

Most of the courses are based at Threave Estate in Dumfries and Galloway, which is where the School had its beginnings in 1961. For longer courses, in the second and subsequent years, students may also undergo placements at other Trust gardens - Branklyn, Crathes, Drum, Inverewe, Kellie Castle and Pitmedden. During training, the students help maintain these wonderful gardens,

All are welcome, no pre-booking necessary, so come along to the Guide Hall in Forfar at 2.30 p.m. to learn more. The admission charge of £4 includes light refreshments after the meeting.
