Orkney sights

Member Stanley Callaghan shared a few stories from his recent journeys to Orkney at last week’s meeting of Brechin Rotary Club.

Stanley took the members on a journey in his own inimitable style around many of the well-known sights he saw on these Northern Islands, including Skara Brae, the Maes Howe and the Old Man of Hoy.

But he also proceeded to reveal fascinating aspects of the far flung and less visited islands of Papa Westray and Westray, where he said some fascinating prehistoric finds predating the Pyramids have been found in sites such as Noltland.

Rotarian Steve Dempsey gave Stanley a vote of thanks for his most entertaining and informative presentation.
