Volunteers drivers are being sought for a patient travel group, to help residents get to health appoints.
Edzell Community Health Transport has been established since January 2014. The group provides transport assistance for patients attending GP and other NHS appointments.
Since January 2014 they have transported over 200 patients to medical appointments at Edzell Health Centre, Stracathro Hospital, Ninewells and other hospitals and clinics in the Tayside and Grampian region.
One client who is very pleased with the scheme is quoted as saying: “The new Edzell transport scheme is very good. Personally I have used the scheme several times. You get picked up and dropped off at your door, which is very convenient and everyone is very helpful and friendly.”
The scheme is now calling on more volunteer drivers to join the group. If you are interested in becoming a driver or just want to learn about the scheme, please come along to the annual general meeting on Tuesday, June 9, at 5 pm at Edzell Health Centre or telephone Edzell Health Centre (01356 648209) and leave your details.
To raise funds towards the running costs of the scheme, the group have an annual fund-raising project. This year they are running the Edzell Charity Shop from June 16 to June 30. Volunteers are required to help in the shop during this period and any donations are welcome.
