At last week’s Brechin Rotary Club meeting member Paul Roberts gave a pictorial look at his journeys in Northumberland.
Paul and his wife Pat visited the Holy Island of Lindisfarne last year and he extolled the virtues of this peaceful and relaxing place while giving a warning of what can happen if you misjudge the timings of the tide of this tidal island. Many a car of unsuspecting travellers has become marooned when the seas reclaim the causeway to the island twice a day.
They then travelled just a little up the road to Bamburgh Castle. Paul described an imposing structure, which has been used in many a film including Russell Crowe’s depiction of Robin Hood in the 2000 epic.
Rotary Club member David Myles gave Paul a vote of thanks for look at these beautiful but often overlooked gems in Northumberland.
