Rotarians at last week’s Brechin Rotary Club meeting made a beeline to listen to Stan Franklin, an expert apiarist, who exploded a few myths about the World of Beekeeping.
Stan is a retired teacher from Barry, and was invited to speak by club member and fellow beekeeper Willie Christison.
Stan buzzed from one aspect to another exploring why some colonies thrive and others become doomed.
He hived off suggestions that it was all to do with the weather, parasites and insecticides.
The sting in the tail, he concluded, was that bad beekeeping is often the main problem.
Rotary Club member David Vernon gave Stan a vote of thanks, saying a few honeyed words.
