Once again Brechin’s local Scout group is gearing up for their annual fund-raising event – the Christmas card delivery service to the town area.
“As the only fund-raising activity undertaken by the Scout Group, this is a vital time of year for us and we hope to once again provide a valuable service to the people of Brechin,” explained Dorothy Black, treasurer of the group.
“Since the second-class stamp costs 50p we hope that as many people as possible will help to raise crucial funds by using our service which costs 20p per card, the same as last year.
“The collecting boxes will be in the following shops: Co-operative (Trinity Road), Dennis’s, Hendry’s, Lidl, Newsplus and St Ninian’s Square Newsagents from Saturday, December 1, until approximately 2 p.m. on Wednesday, December 19, and we thank the proprietors of these shops for their assistance with this event.
“The sorting dates for the cards this year will be Friday, December 7; Monday, December 10; Thursday, December 13; Monday, December 17; and Wednesday, December 19.
“If you can help us sort cards, the Scout hut will be open from 6 p.m. onwards on these dates – even if you only can manage a short time.
“Although most streets have been allocated volunteer posties for deliveries, we still a have few streets that need posties.
“If you would be willing to help deliver cards in the following areas: Drumachlie Park, Poet’s Place and Smalls Square; Hillview, Slater Way, Harley Place and Montrose Street (No. 93 to 158), please contact Elizabeth Kidd on 01356 624210. We would like to thank everyone who has already agreed to help with our deliveries.”
Readers are asked to note that Christmas cards can only be delivered to the town area of Brechin.
If you post a card that is not for a Brechin town address contact Elizabeth Kidd so it can be retrieved and returned to you for posting with the Royal Mail.
