Brechin Scouts are once again gearing up for the Christmas delivery fund-raising scheme, which they hold every year.
Treasurer of the group Dorothy Black explained: “As the only fund-raising activity undertaken by the Scout Group, this is a vital time of year for us and we hope to once again provide a valuable service to the people of Brechin.”
The cost of the Scouts’ delivery service is 20 pence per card.
Delivery boxes will be located in the Co-operative on Trinity Road, Dennis’, Hendry’s, Lidl, Newsplus and St. Ninian’s Square Newsagents from Wednesday, December 4, until approximately 2 p.m. on Friday, December 20.
Dorothy added: “We thank the proprietors of these shops for their assistance with this event.”
The Scouts are also appealing for the volunteers to help sort the cards that come in. The sorting dates are as follows:-
Monday, December 9; Thursday, December 12; Monday, December 16; Friday, December 20.
Dorothy said: “If you can help us sort cards, the Scout hut will be open from 6 p.m. onwards on these dates and any and all help is gratefully received, even if you only can manage a short time.”
If there any volunteers who wish to help, but are available only during the day, arranged can be made to stamp cards in the afternoon of the sorting dates. Please contact Elizabeth Kidd on 01356 624210 to discuss.
Volunteers are needed to help deliver cards in these areas:-
Drumchalie Park; Poets Place and Smalls Square; Montrose Street (Numbers 159 and upwards); Kinnaird Place and Southesk Terrace; Caldhame Place and Dall’s Lane.
Please contact Elizabeth on the above number if you can help.
Readers are reminded that cards can only be delivered to the town area of Brechin. If you accidentally post a card for elsewhere, please contact Elizabeth so it can be found and returned.
