Hockey: For the second week in succession Brechin could only muster ten players but these ten plus Grove’s travelling reserve managed to holdout the league leaders until the closing minutes when two half-chances were napped up by international forward J. Stark.
Until then there was always the chance that Brechin might get a break-away goal.
While the visitors just deserved to win, it was Brechin’s overworked defence with Allison, Hammond and Christie outstanding, that took the honours.

Football: At a football match at Brechin on Sunday the Brechin Air Training Corps beat Forfar 8-2.
Unfortunately this winning trend was not carried into the regional championship, where Brechin were knocked out in the third round, beaten by Montrose 2-1.
Football: Against the run of play Brechin Vics’ Fraser put the Blairgowrie ahead.
Vics fought back but Whyte shot past and a Billingham shot was blocked.
Buchanan first-timed Blair’s number 2.
Wyllie pulled one back for Vics.
In the last minute Anderson’s penalty goal assured Blair of the points.

Football: There was disappointment at the week-end when City could only bring away one point from Berwick.
Again they had made but a short stay at the top of the league, Meadowbank with a win against Stranraer regaining the leadership.
Brechin put up a confident enough display against the big strong team, though they tried in the second half.
They should have been well ahead by then, hitting the woodwork several times but the home defence was giving nothing away.
City made the first attempt on goal by Glynn smartly saved a low ball.
It was Paterson who put Brechin ahead in 56 minutes, however, in 72 minutes Berwick equalised.
