FIVE intrepid adventurers from Brechin High School reported on their life changing experiences when sailing with the Ocean Youth Trust Scotland at last week’s meeting of Brechin Rotary Club in the Caledonian Hotel.

The pupils – Patrick Kinnear, Daisy Grieve, Nathan Guy, Katie Melvin and Kira Bruce - had come through a rigorous selection procedure.

One by one they explained just exactly how much they got from their amazing time sailing off the west coast of Scotland under the auspices of the Ocean Youth Trust organisation.

They gave an intriguing presentation about their time navigating the waters of the Kyles of Bute.

One by one, the young sailors told of their preparations, their training, their hard work and, finally, their ability to take it in turns to be sick!

It came over loud and clear that, not only had they learnt a lot about sailing, they had loved the experience, gaining in confidence and the ability to work as a team.

Rotarian Frances Urquhart gave the youngsters a vote of thanks for their most entertaining and informative presentation.
