IAN Taylor of Taylor’s Auctions Montrose was welcomed by Brechin Probus Club chairman Frank Scott as guest speaker.
His talk was entitled 20th Century Scottish Art .
He began his presentation by producing the work of six Scottish artists valued at a quarter of a million pounds.
Priced from £3,000 to £70,000 each and put his audience on the spot by asking them to put a value on each of them.
The artists were William McTaggart, John Bellamy, Joan Eardley, Anne Redpath, David McClure and Edward Baird.
Ian then gave an explanation for the true evaluation but most of the members were well off the mark giving his audience a better understanding of the mysteries of an art dealer.
Ian of course deals with many other items in his saleroom and had many interesting, educational and entertaining stories to tell.
Bob Berry gave a vote of thanks on behalf of the Brechin Probus Club members.
The chairman gave the members a reminder that ideas for the summer outing would be sought at the next meeting.
