Members of Brechin Acorn Club enjoyed a very pleasant outing to Perth on April 1.

Morning coffee was served at The Red House Hotel, Coupar Angus, along with a tasty scone.

The coach then proceeded to Perth where everyone had the opportunity to shop and also to have a light lunch. It was chilly but remained dry.

High tea was served up in the conservatory of The Inchture Hotel where a beautiful meal was enjoyed by all the members. The staff were very friendly and most attentive.

The driver then returned members to Brechin at the end of a great day out. They hoped he enjoyed it, too!

The club’s AGM was held on April 8 in the Damacre Centre. Before the start of business a presentation was made to Katherine of ‘Homestart’, the chosen charity for this year.

The sum handed over was £200.

Katherine expressed her delight on receiving it and assured members the money would be put to good use in the area.

Homestart helps families with pre-school children in Angus.

After the business was concluded the president, A. Mitchell, read a poem which had been written a few years ago by May Henderson, who recently celebrated her 90th birthday. It was greatly enjoyed by members.

Evelyn Simpson then once again entertained the company with some lovely Scottish songs. The president commented that the club was lucky to have its very own ‘built-in’ entertainment.

An enjoyable afternoon tea followed, provided by the committee. Muriel Wyse proposed a vote of thanks.

The regular meetings of the club will resume in September 2015.
