AN IMPRESSIVE RANGE OF SCHOOL TRIPS ON OFFER AT FORFAR ACADEMY

AN impressive range of school trips have been enjoyed by pupils at Forfar Academy, with more in the pipe-line.

Following the success of the Ebern Exchange for pupils of the music department prior to the summer holidays, the English department organised its annual visit to the Edinburgh Festival Fringe on the first Saturday of term which was enjoyed by 18 pupils.

The history department took over 30 pupils on the WW1 Battlefields Trip and, once again, the pupils and staff found the experience to be very moving and inspirational. The conduct of the pupils was exemplary throughout and drew comment from many sources.

The Advanced Higher Biology students spent a long weekend in Millport, doing work on their practical projects whilst S4 pupils recently visited the Botanical Gardens in Dundee as part of their biology studies.

Pupils have enjoyed a trip to Alton Towers and pupils are looking forward to a London Theatre Trip before the end of this session.

A new destination on the trip calendar this year is Barcelona in the second last week of the term, while the London Theatre Trip leaves on the Wednesday of the last week of term.

Meantime meetings are already in hand for the Ski Trip, the Switzerland Trip, the Football Stadium Trip to Valencia and the Borneo Eco Trip.

Writing in the latest newsletter, head teacher Mr Melvyn Lynch said: "As you can see, a busy start to the session, with a wide variety of opportunities on offer to pupils.

"This is a major commitment on the part of the school staff who organise the trips, the parents who support them and the pupils who participate in them.

"It is a big responsibility and one which requires planning, commitment and enthusiasm. I am very grateful to the staff who continue to take learning beyond the classroom and give pupils such a variety of ways to broaden their education."
