A new art exhibition is being hosted in the art gallery of The Pavilion @ Stracathro cafe in the grounds of the hospital.

The latest exhibition displays the work of Aileen Simpson from Ferryden.

Aileen said: “I took up art as a hobby when I found I had some spare time on my hands once my children had grown up.

“After buying a couple of books from a jumble sale, I felt they were not much help, so I decided to teach myself.”

Discussing her style, Aileen added: “I like to work with different media, especially sepia, and I paint a range of different subjects.”

The exhibitions at The Pavilion @ Stracathro cafe are changed approximately every eight weeks and local artists are invited to display their work.

The cafe is open Monday to Friday from 8am until 4pm.

The majority of the art on display at the gallery is for sale, with each participating artist donating 20 per cent commission of sales to Stracathro Hospital.

All money raised is used to enhance the Stracathro Hospital environment for patients and visitors.
