A decision on the future of the artificial pitch at River Street has not been made yet - despite fears that it will go.
The pitch at the old leisure centre suffered damage during Storm Frank at the end of 2015, with a portion of the wall affected.
One post on the Brechin Advertiser Facebook page said: “My boys and nephews love going down here to play football, it’s such a shame it’s being left to ruin.”
Another member of the public said: “River Street is going to lose the weather pitch as Angus Council want to remove a perfectly good surface and grass.”
However, the local authority has said discussion with community groups had taken place, but there was no decision as of yet.
An Angus Council spokesman said: “A new all-weather surface is currently being installed at Brechin Community Campus that will provide a much-improved modern facility.
“There have been discussions with local community groups with regards to the future of the redundant leisure facilities at the Inch, but it has, as yet, to be determined.”
