Angus Gold Forum to be revitalised

At a recent meeting of the Angus Gold Forum Network held in Arbroath, it was agreed to revitalise and constitute the group.

A draft constitution will be presented to the group at it next meeting in June.

It was also decided at this meeting to elect Eric Gray as the chair of the Network, Mary Dow as secretary and Anne White as treasurer.

The forums, supported by Angus Council, comprise Angus Gold groups from Arbroath, Brechin, Carnoustie, Letham and Montrose.

It is hoped that forums may restart in Forfar and Kirriemuir. All Angus Gold forums are open to people aged 50 and over and provide people with an opportunity to influence services as well as discuss issues affecting them.

An example of success achieved by the groups is the creation of a direct bus service between Brechin and Dundee, which came about through the Brechin group meeting with bus companies and council representatives.

Topics currently being explored include the impact of Self Directed Support, access to drop kerbs and general mobility in towns and accessibility of medical appointments. ontact your local communities office for further information.
