It WAS a week of highs and lows for the Angus teams in the run up to Christmas, writes Sarah McLean.

Forfar Athletic got their week off to a great start with a 3-2 win over Albion Rovers on Tuesday evening but it ended with a whimper when they lost 2-1 to Alloa Athletic on Saturday.

At least the Loons managed to get a game , however, as Brechin City’s re-arranged match with Ayr United was postponed yet again due to the shocking amount of rain that fell towards the end of last week.

Montrose also had midweek action on Wednesday night but were disappointed to only take away a 2-2 draw and a point from East Stirlingshire.

Now attention turns to festive football with an Angus derby to look forward to on Boxing Day. Brechin City will host Arbroath at Glebe Park with an earlier kick-off time of 2 p.m. at the request of both clubs.

Neither Forfar Athletic or Montrose will have Boxing Day football as their next fixtures will be on Saturday, December 29.

Forfar Athletic will host East Fife at Station Park with a normal 3 p.m. kick off.

Arbroath will host Albion Rovers at Gayfield, Brechin City have a long away day ahead of them with a trip to Stranraer and in the Third Division Montrose are at home to Stirling Albion.

It is still close between the Angus clubs in the Second Division but Forfar Athletic are leading the pack in the third place spot with 23 points.

Arbroath and Brechin City are not too far behind in fifth and sixth respectively with 20 and 19 points.

In the Third Division, Montrose are back into the play off spots in fourth with 23 points.
