It feels like the 2012/13 season is barely over but already the Angus clubs are preparing for their pre-season friendlies, writes Sarah McLean.
At Montrose the pre-season kicks off on Saturday, July 6 when Inverurie Locos pay a visit to Links Park.
On Tuesday, July 9, First Division side Dundee will be in town.
Arbroath will make the short journey up the coast for a pre-season derby on Saturday, July 13.
On Tuesday, July 16 Montrose travel to St Andrews to face the Dundee United Under-20s.
Then the final pre-season fixture will be against Brechin City at Links Park on July 20.
So far Brechin have arranged three pre-season fixtures, all of them away from home because of the extensive works going on to improve the pitch at Glebe Park.
Ray McKinnon’s side head north to Echt on Saturday, July 6 to take on Highland League Champions Cove Rangers and seven days later they travel south to Largs to face Queens Park.
As it stands their final pre-season match will be against Montrose as mentioned previously.
Forfar Athletic have also arranged three matches with hopes to have more finalised in the coming days.
Luckily for Loons fans, all the games so far have been arranged to take place at Station Park.
Alloa Athletic will be the visitors on Thursday, July 11.
Neighbours Dundee will be the opponents on the afternoon of Saturday, July 13.
On Tuesday, July 16, Falkirk will make the journey north.
At Arborath, Lichties fans have three home fixtures to look forward to so far.
An Aberdeen XI will be in town on July 16, a Partick Thistle XI will be at Gayfield a few days later on July 20 and on July 23 an Inverness Caledonian Thistle X1 will face Paul Sheerin’s side.
So far the only away day in Arbroath’s pre-season will be against Montrose on July 13.
The first competitive game of the season will be on Saturday, July 25 with the first round of the Ramsdens Cup.
The fixtures for the coming season are released on June 19 so look out for them next week.
