Brechin Beavers swimming club held their first ever major fund-raiser which proved to be a phenomenal success.
Around 80 people attended the evening, when they enjoyed a lovely meal followed by two outstanding and entertaining speakers, namely Mr Sandy Jessop and Mr Jim Brown.
Master of Ceremonies for the evening was performed brilliantly by Mr David Birse, who not only led the raffle and auction professionally, but also entertained the audience with his witty and spontaneous humour. All three had the audience in stitches with local based tales and stories.
The evening was also an opportunity to recognise two very special people to the Beavers swimming club, Mrs Pam Thomson and Mr David Hill, who were presented with life membership awards from the Beavers President, Mrs Julie Thomson for their dedication and commitment to swimming in Brechin and local area.
As spokesperson from the club said: “It is anticipated that the final amount raised for the evening will be in the region of £4,500 which far exceeds the original target.
“This will make a major difference to the volunteer-led swimming club who are striving to move the club forward but didn’t have the funds until now.
“Thanks go to all who came along and helped make this a night out to remember.”
The club would like to thank the following businesses for their support in donations for the evening:- Karen Boyle, First Bus (Aberdeen), Edzell Golf Club, James Lammonds Ltd, John Kerr (Fairmont, St Andrews), The Glenesk Hotel, Steel and Murdoch, Gavin and Ruth Haggart, The Northern Hotel, Tip-to-Toe, Brymers Butchers, Blacks of Brechin, IceWorld (Forfar), City Gents, Gardiners Toy Store, Smallworld Nursery, Sydney David, Mac’s Floor coverings, Adagio, Agricar, J &M Milne, The Swan, Natrualie, Hazel Thomson, Johnny Milne, Mackie Motors and Ken Ferguson.
