PLANS to resurrect the City of Brechin and District Community Council are progressing - following interest by locals in getting involved.
Angus Council has put the wheels in motion following receipt of a petition from local residents for a community council to be reformed in the area.
During the community council elections held in October 2010, there were less than half the number of candidates for the vacancies in the City of Brechin & District community council area.
This meant that the community council could not be established at that time.
The notice of election will be published on October 17 and candidates have until 4 pm on Monday, November 7 to submit their nominations and personal statements.
Candidates are able to withdraw their nomination up to 4 pm on Monday, November 14.
A spokesperson for Angus Council said: “If there are sufficient candidates to fill the thirteen vacancies on the community council there will be no contest and all candidates will be elected to serve.
“If there are more candidates than vacancies, a poll will be held from Monday, December 5, and the count and declaration of results will take place on Monday, December 12.”
