With less than two weeks until their lunch date, organisers at Brechin’s Gardner Memorial Church will be hoping the weather is fair for their Big Lunch event.
The decision to hold another event was made all the easier given the success of the Big Jubilee Lunch held last year.
This year the lunch, which is on Sunday, June 2, has a coronation theme.
A spokesperson for the organising committee at Gardner Memorial Church said: “The time lag between the Queen’s accession and the coronation meant that there are, happily, two dates to celebrate.”
The event will take place at St Ninian’s Square, and will follow the same timetable as last year - after morning worship the lollipop man will take up his position at Southesk Street and volunteers will carry tables and chairs across the road and set them up in the Square.
As with last year the Square will be decorated with bunting, which will be set up in advance of the event.
“A cordial invitation is extended to one and all to come along with their picnic,” continued the spokesperson.
“If folk felt inclined to dress up for the event, that would add to the party atmosphere.”
Details of this year’s community picnic are advertised on Wallace and Gromit posters across the town but all people need to do is head for the Square, just after 12 noon, on Sunday, June 2.
