A former nursing auxiliary from Stracathro Hospital has used a special occasions to fund raise for the hospital.
Joan Wood, who worked at Stracathro Hospital for 29 years as a nursing auxiliary and then as a volunteer after her retirement, said “she wanted to contribute something back to her second home”.
At her 80th birthday celebrations at Brechin Bowling Club, Joan asked friends and family to give a donation in lieu of presents, and as a result she was able to donate a cheque for £600 to Stracathro Stroke Unit’s patients comfort fund. The money will go towards the purchase of supportive chairs.
She presented the cheque to charge nurse Sandie Japp last Friday, along with her son Raymond and daughter-in-law Sandra. Joan has thanked all those who donated.
