Local Edzell fund-raiser, Bobby Campbell MBE visited Panbride Youth Group at Newton Church, Carnoustie, recently after being invited to talk to the group about his life experiences and charity work by Stracathro Primary School teacher, Mrs June Black.

Bobby said: “Mrs Black has raised thousands of pounds for Bangladesh and has been out there.

“The group gave me a cheque for £30 towards Poppyscotland.

“Over the past 40 years I have been instrumental in raising about £250,000 for a lot of charities.

“I must remember a lot of kind people have helped me in the process, I can’t take all the credit.”

Bobby has so far collected £200 on the road for his latest fund-raising venture in which he aims to walk 6,500 miles for Poppyscotland.

If you see Bobby walking his daily eight miles, from Edzell to the Keithock roundabout and back, why not give him a donation and help him raise as much as possible for the charity.

The money that Bobby raises will be used to provide vital all-year-round support to Scotland’s veterans and their families, a growing number of whom experience difficulty after leaving the armed forces and may struggle with battlefield injuries, psychological trauma, or issues with finances, housing and employment.

Bobby plans to complete the mammoth task in November, 2014.

He has taken part in charity walks for most of his life and recently completed a 5,500 mile walk for Clic Sargent.
