Book Awards and sports day make for busy few weeks

THE annual sports day and the Angus Book Awards are among the activities Brechin High School pupils have been involved in recently.

Angus Book Award 2007

One of the first year pupils, Heather Duff attended the Angus Book Award 2007 and these are her views on the event: "On Tuesday, May 15, Sue Mayfield came to Brechin High School as part of Angus Book Award. I went to meet her because I had read all five books on the short list and I got to ask questions.

The book I liked best was The Foreshadowing by Marcus Sedgwick, I also got to meet him and speak to him at the awards ceremony in Arbroath High School. I thought the night was a great experience and I thoroughly enjoyed it. All eight Angus secondary schools were also represented at the ceremony.

When the ceremony was over I got my programme signed by all the authors. Their novels were also on sale on the night. So I think you would like to know who won then. The Angus Book Award 2007 winner was…. Candy by Kevin Brooks."
