Parents protesting about the proposed closure of playparks in Angus have set up a peaceful protest to take place in Brechin’s Drumachlie Park on Friday, November 30 (tomorrow).
‘Protect Our Parks and Save Our Swings’, set up by a group of mums from Forfar who were horrified at Angus Councils proposal to close 51 playparks across Angus, have set up a number of protests across the Angus area, getting local and national coverage with just one aim - to all parks across Angus.
A spokesperson for the group said: “What started as a heated discussion in our toddler group has now become a full fledged campaign to save all the parks.
“We are fighting for all playparks in Angus, not just Forfar where we are based.
“This Friday we are trying to organise each town to have a ‘peaceful protest’ at a park in their town that is down for removal. As the children are off school we think the perfect opportunity to let them have their say too.”
The peaceful protest at Brechin’s Drumachlie Park will take place at 3 p.m., and will see Councillors Mairi Evans and Jim Houston in attendance.
They will be meeting at 3pm this Friday @ Drumachlie Park, Brechin.
