Visitors to Brechin‘s public park next week could be forgiven that local people and their canine friends have gone ‘barking mad’!
However, there is no cause for alarm as it is all in a good cause!
The Angus local committee of Cancer Research UK has enlisted the help of man’s best friend to help them in their latest fund-raising venture - quite simply a walk in the park! A spokesman said the committee had organised a brand new event in aid of funds - Bark in the Park.
“We are having our first Bark in Brechin on June 12 at 7 p.m. at the public park and we would like to invite dogs to bring their owners along to complete a walk,” said Alana Loudon, chairperson of the Angus committee.
“We are asking for a minimum donation of £3 to take part and all proceeds will go to Cancer Research UK,” she added.
“We would like participants, both human and canine to come along on the evening and bring their friends and together we will beat cancer,” she added.
Alana said that the first dog to sign up for the walk was Harley, a beautiful spaniel who. along with his owner, helped to publicise the event.
Alana said that when he signed up Harley was presented with a medal and she added that all the dogs who take part in the event will also be given a medal.
Anyone who would like more information about the walk is asked to contact Alana on firstname.lastname@example.org or on 07591656306.
