A Brechin teen was able to top his charity target, after completing a 21 mile sponsored walk in aid of cancer research.
Ciarán Campbell (15) undertook the walk on Saturday, April 11, which forms part of his work to reach his Duke of Edinburgh Award.
The award includes a physical element, which the 21-mile walk contributed to, but he also wanted to use it as an opportunity to raise money for charity.
Ciarán had hoped to raise £500, but his mum, Fiona, updated the Brechiner after he completed his walk, and explained: “The walk went well on Saturday, although bit cold and very windy.
“He has passed his set target of collecting £500, with £513 gathered so far, with promises of a bit more still to come in.”
“Ciarán says thanks to all his sponsors, who made his day very worthwhile, and I’m one very proud mum.”
The walk saw Ciarán and his mum set off from the Cancer Research Charity shop in Montrose, where he volunteers every Saturday, and walk from the shop to Hillside, then take the back road to Taranty, before heading on the back road to House of Dun and then along the footpath and back in to Montrose.
