Brechiner rewarded for giving back

A Brechin resident has been rewarded for pledging to “Give Extra” and make a difference in their community.

Sheila Brown has been rewarded by Halifax Bank for hosting a Big Lunch. Sheila completed her pledge and was entered into a prize draw to win a Big Reward of £250 worth of restaurant vouchers.

Sheila and the team pledged to host a big lunch and as one of the first 2,500 people to make this pledge they received a big lunch box containing bunting and balloons to help them with their challenge.

A spokesperson for the bank said: “Halifax understands the importance of giving extra back to communities and is rewarding people who go the extra mile with the Giving Extra Pledge. Sheila’s pledge involved holding a big lunch in St Ninian’s Square in Brechin for all the community, with over 200 people attending.”

Sheila said: “It is fantastic to be recognised by Halifax for pledging to give extra back to my community. I was delighted to receive the initial reward for simply making my pledge, and thrilled to have won the restaurant vouchers. Our Big Lunch was a fantastic day with so many excited children attending we couldn’t count them! I would encourage everyone in the Brechin community to give extra back by making a pledge.”

David Nicholson, Group Director, Halifax Community Bank said: “We are delighted to support people pledging to make a difference to their communities.

“As part of our Helping Britain Prosper Plan we are committed to being the banking group that brings communities closer together by giving extra back. I would like to congratulate Sheila on winning this month’s prize, and hope they inspire others to make pledges of their own.”
