Brechin’s “Easter Eggstravaganza” is well underway but there is still time to get involved in the many competitions and events that are taking place.

To complete the Eggstravaganza in style Brechin’s retailers group have organised a special Eggstravaganza day.

During the Saturday a number of businesses have agreed to hold a special promotion day, with give-aways, competitions and discounts galore.

Promotions available (as pictured on the map) are:-

1, Adagio Music – chocolate eggs with all purchases over £5; 2, Andy Stewart – 10% off; 3, Blacks – 10% discount day; 4, Rosie’s Bakehouse - 10% discount; 5, Brymers - free Easter Egg with every £20 spent; 6, Caledonian Hotel - Easter High teas, under 5’s eat free from 4pm (applicable on April 7 and 8); 8, Drapes and Dreams - 10% discount day (excludes curtains); 9, Eclipse - Children’s face painting and treats.

10, Envy - 10% discount day; 11, Essence - in store raffle for a hamper, 12, Gardiners Toy Shop - start of retirement sale: 10% off many toys and nursery lines. All cards half price and lots more discounted items; 13, Hardware Store - 10% off, Easter nibbles and refreshments; 14, WM Hendry Newsagents - 10% off cards and gifts. Lucky dip to find Easter Eggs, etc; 15, Kavak Hair Design - 10% Discount Day; 16, McKay’s Bakery - for all your bakery needs; 17, Northern Hotel - Easter treats for kids, voucher meals to be won, a colouring competition. There will be a special Easter Menu on Easter Sunday; 18, G A Moir Jewellers - 20% off Tissot watches, 19, J Mitchell Jewellers - 10% Discount Day.

If special promotions at the local shops was not enough there will also be a number of events taking place throughout the day to keep you busy and entertained.

Events taking place through Saturday include (as pictured on map) include:-

A, Brechin Cathedral: between 10 am and 4 pm the cathedral will have floral displays, a Meditation Labyrinth, Reflective Music and the Cathedral in Candlelight.

B, Friends of Brechin Town House Museum: Display of old photos of the Brechin Area ~ light refreshments and they also have an egg hunt running from each day until April 7 within the museum.

C, Stables: A talent competition for under 18s from 2.30 pm on Sunday, April 8. Entries to Joyce or Alan on 01356 624449

D, The Easter Bonnets and Bunnits entries from the schools and nurseries in and around Brechin will be on display in The Town House Museum each day until April 7. Already 300 entries.

E, Egg Decorating entries will be accepted up to 11 am on Saturday, April 7 and will be on display in the Town House Museum on the April 7 only – age categories for entries are: under five years, five to seven years, 8 - 11 years, 12 - 16 years and 17-plus years. Judging is at 2 pm so get your entry in and win a giant Easter Egg.

Also as part of the Easter Eggstravaganza there are 25 Egg trail posters in various participating shops.

All you need to do is go round those shops taking part in the trail and look for the Egg Trail poster.

On the poster there will be a photo of an item identifying a business that provides or sells this unique item.

Once you have identified the business that corresponds to the image just mark the number of the poster against the business on the Egg Trail entry sheet.

The lucky winner will win a selection of Easter eggs.

Entry sheets can be collected at all participating businesses as well as the Brechin Advertiser office.

The winner, having correctly identified the greatest number of photos with the corresponding businesses, will be drawn from those entries received by 2 pm on Saturday, April 7.

Completed forms should be handed into the Brechin Advertiser offices, either by hand or post through the letterbox, by 2 pm on Saturday, April 7. The draw will take place at 4pm at Brechin Town House Museum.
