Brechin Community Cinema Project, ‘Flicks In The City,’ will have its second outing this Sunday (May 17).

Committee members and volunteers are hoping for a repeat of the success of the first show which attracted over 300 movie-goers.

The group will screen The Spongebob Movie: Sponge Out Of Water at 1pm followed by Disney’s live action Cinderella at 4pm. The screenings will finish with The Water Diviner, starring Russell Crowe, at 7pm.

As well as three films to show, two special guests - Spongebob Square Pants and Cinderella - will pose for photographs with children.

The cinema group hope to show that a monthly cinema in Brechin is sustainable.

“Organisations, such as the British Film Institute will supply community cinemas with their own equipment if they can prove they are viable,” said Mark Arbuthnott, treasurer.

‘‘Thee scope for Brechin’s Community Cinema will increase greatly once we secure our own equipment and the prospects for the Brechin group looks good if we get the support we need from the community. Early signs are very encouraging.”

Tickets cost £6 for adults and £5 for children, with family tickets (two adults and two children or one adult and three children) available for £20. Tickets can be purchased on the day, or from Newsplus, Hendry’s Newsagents, Dennis’s, Blacks and the Wee Market shop in Edzell. Brechin Rugby Club will be operating the tuck shop.
