Scottish Hydro Electric Power Distribution (SHEPD) has set up the £300,000 Resilient Communities Fund for non-profit making organisations, community groups and charities working in their distribution area.
Applications for up to £20,000 will be accepted until July 31 2015.
The Resilient Communities Fund supports local projects that:
Protect the welfare of vulnerable customers during a significant power outage or emergency weather event.
Enhance community facilities and services that may be used or instigated in the event of a significant power outage or emergency weather event.
Improve communication during an emergency situation to keep communities informed or aid contact between local groups and response services.
£150,000 of funding has been allocated for 2015, with £150,000 available for a second round in 2016. An independent panel will decide which projects will receive a grant from the Resilient Communities Fund.
