A north-east fish and chip chain, with a shop in Brechin, is in line for a top national award for its standards in business, retail and commitment to customer service.
The Ashvale Fish Restaurant Limited has been shortlisted in the Best Multiple Fish and Chip Operator Award category at the National Fish & Chip Awards 2012, organised by Seafish, the authority on seafood.
The shops, owned by Mr Stuart Devine will now ’batter’ it out against The Frying Squad Ltd, of Northern Ireland and Fish’n’Chick’n of England to decide the winner, which will be announced at the grand final in London on January 17, 2012.
Stuart Devine, said: “It’s a huge testimony to the 250 staff we employ and having been in business now for 20 years it’s fantastic that we are still producing award winning fish and chips. When you run more than one shop the quality of the staff is key to your success and we invest heavily in training.
“The other important aspect is that you never stop learning things in our ever changing industry and I feel we are very well placed for the challenges ahead.
“For many years we have strived to maintain our standards and this is one mean task – I am absolutely delighted and look forward to our trip to London where we will meet the industry’s elite.”
Sponsored by Unique Seafood Limited, the event is open to multiple fish and chip retailers with four or more outlets and judges businesses at both head office and store level, taking into account the standard of sustainability, commercial awareness and staff training levels.
