A BRAND new T-shirt was one of the leaving gifts that Joyce Brown received from her employers on her retirement from Brechin architectural firm J.W. Souttar.

The novelty T-shirt was proudly worn by office administrator Joyce who retired from the firm last week after 25 years with the business.

Joyce, who is married with two daughters and two grandsons, said: “I am looking forward to having some time to relax.

“I plan to play more golf as well as go on holidays and trips.

“I am also looking forward to spending some more time with my family.

“A lot has changed since I started working at J.W. Souttar especially with technology.

“The company has also expanded. When I started there were four employees and now there are about 14.

“It has been a great company to work for and I have really enjoyed it.”

Since starting work Joyce has always carried out clerical duties.

She remembers, fondly, that her first job at South Esk Estate paid her £3 a week with Joyce taking home £2 12s 6d of which £2 was given to her mum before she could spend the rest.

Joyce, who said she is already feeling more relaxed, has starting planning how to spend her free time with visits to her grandsons and time on the golf course featuring at the top of the list of things to do.
