Davidson’s Chemists, which has a branch in Brechin’s High Street, has been honoured at a Scotland wide pharmacy awards.

On Wednesday, November 7, the Thistle Hotel in Glasgow played host to the annual Scottish Pharmacy Awards, where there were over 500 guests in attendance.

Each year, the awards provide the opportunity for those involved in pharmacy across Scotland to celebrate the achievements of the profession.

The awards, hosted most professionally by Sky Sports News’ very own Jim White, saw a total of 14 awards presented with Davidson’s Chemists winning the Innovations in Smoking Cessation Award, for the second year in a row.

Jacque Lamb, who is sales supervisor at the Brechin branch, was chosen to represent Davidson’s Chemists at the awards in recognition of her, and all the Brechin staff’s, performance in smoking cessation.

Jacque said she was “honoured and proud” to accept the award on behalf of all of the staff who have been involved in delivering smoking cessation support to local communities.

Davidson’s beat two other finalists to take the title once more.

The judging panel said: “All three finalists demonstrated excellence in smoking cessation support however the Davidson’s Chemists submission had a range of additional activities which made her stand out from the rest - the appointment of a dedicated smoking cessation co-ordinator, the establishment of a Facebook page widening the potential target audience, links with other services, the additional support materials that have been developed and the recognition of the importance of continuity of care for people trying to quit smoking.”
