A Brechin student was at the heart of an historic event this week when the logo for the new Dundee and Angus College was unveiled.

Lisa Hastie (18) is vice-president elect of the new organisation which officially comes into being on ‘vesting day’ on Friday, November 1. The former Brechin High pupil was delighted to take part in the unveiling at Arbroath Abbey.

Lisa commented: “The merger of Dundee and Angus Colleges is a like a marriage, not something that either party goes into lightly. It is a serious business and both organisations have shown commitment and dedication to make it work.”

Lisa, who is studying HNC administration and IT at Angus College, was impressed with the new insignia. The logo was designed in-house and chosen by members of the Tayside Partnership Board.

Principal designate for the new college, Christina Potter, said: “Having a new logo is one more step in our merger plans which are running very smoothly. “A new senior leadership team has been appointed and plans to integrate IT systems, telephones and back-office services are well advanced.

“Our aim is to enrich the services and provision we currently offer to students, expanding course choice and enhancing progression into employment and onwards to university.”
