A well-known Brechin business owner is retiring, after 39 years of working in the town.

Gordon Murray, owner of G. W Murray Taxis, is bowing out, having spent 35 of his 39 years as a taxi driver running his own firm.

Originally from the Mintlaw area, Mr Murray has been in Brechin area for 50 years.

Discussing his retirement, Gordon said there were a few reasons which added to his decision. One being the fact that his wife is also retiring from her position with Angus Council.

“I’m actually three years past my retirement age”, said Mr Murray, “and I was always going to pack up when my wife retired.”

When asked on his plans he said: “ We’re just going to take it one day at a time.”
