Angus MP Mike Weir has warmly welcomed the news that Scotland has become a Fair Trade nation.
Mr Weir, a long time supporter of Fair Trade, helped launch this year’s Fair Trade fortnight at the Co-Op store in Timmergreens Arbroath along with South Angus MSP, Graeme Dey.
Mr Weir said: “The news that Scotland has become a Fair Trade nation is a fantastic start to this year’s Fair Trade Fortnight.
“Campaigning groups throughout Angus have done so much to achieve this.
“The Co-Op have been a leader in promoting Fair Trade produce and it was good to see the number of items they provide.
“Fair Trade ensures that producers get a fair price for their produce and ensures that they can provide for their families and build stronger and more resilient communities.”
