Busy time for Guild members in rural Brechin

The Edzell, Lethnot and Glenesk Guild had a meeting on Tuesday, November 6 with Glenys Small giving a warm welcome to everyone in attendance.

The Rev. Barbara Ann Sweetin, minister of East and Old Church, Forfar, gave an interesting talk called: ‘To Walk Humbly with God.’

The meeting was led by Margaret Craig, with prayers, readings and hymns. Catherine Shaw proposed a vote of thanks, followed by tea and coffee, then all saying Grace.

Glenys would like to thank everyone who filled a shoebox, despite it being a busy and expensive time.

In total, 30 shoeboxes were filled for The Blythswood Appeal.

The boxes are filled with everyday items that seem so small to the community here in Brechin - a new hat and scarf, a toothbrush with some toothpaste, a small toy, some soap; yet bring great joy to thousands of people who live in desperate poverty.

Thanks also go to Heather Murray for taking the boxes to the van in Montrose, where they will be delivered on.

A songs of Praise will be held on Sunday, November 20 at 6 pm in the church hall, to mark the beginning of Guild Week. All are welcome to attend.

The Guild’s next meeting will be on Tuesday, November 22 at 2 pm, when the speaker will be Sandra Thompson, who will be discussing: ‘The Story of Jute.’
