A society that has been in existence since 1839 needs community-minded gardners, bakers and crafters to join together by becoming members of the Brechin Horticultural Society’s committee.
Each year the society organises and runs the annual two--day flower show in September, something that would not be possible without the committee members.
To help organise and run this year’s show, which will take place on September 9 and 10, the Horticultural Society is appealing to locals to become a member of the committee.
Brechin Horticultural Society secretary David Dyker explains: “Help for the show would also be appreciated as we need people to sell raffle tickets, man the sales table and make and serve tea and coffee.
“The event is held every September and we feel that now is the time to bring about changes to the show schedule and format.
“The show consists of classes for flowers, vegetables, fruit, floral art, baking and preserves, handicrafts, crafts and children’s entries.
“Whilst good numbers of entries are submitted we realise that trends change over the years and we would welcome anyone who thinks that they can help the committee to bring the society up to date and take it forward into the future.
“If you would like to be involved come along to our meeting on August 30 at the Caledonain Hotel at 7 pm to find out more.
“You can be assured of a warm welcome and you might like to join the committee,
“Tell us your ideas, what you are growing in your garden or greenhouse and what it is you enjoy seeing.”
If you are unable to attend the meeting but you are interested in joining the committee contact David Dyker on telephone 01356 622503 or email email@example.com. You can also contact Frances Smith on 01356 660245.
