New exercise tracks along disused railway lines, inter-town competitions, and a beacon trail to celebrate the Queen’s Baton Relay are just some of the inspiring ideas for Commonwealth Games celebrations and legacy projects in Angus.
These ideas, and many more, have been suggested by communities across Angus, as the county gears up to welcome the Games shooting event to Barry Buddon next summer.
Chair of the Angus steering group for the XX Commonwealth Games, councillor Jeanette Gaul said: “It was clear during the workshops we held recently to highlight the funding support that’s available for local projects, that there’s lots of enthusiasm in Angus for the 2014 Games.
“A number of national funds have been set up to support local games related activities; fund projects that create or improve local facilities where we can be more active; and get us involved in physical activities from sport to gardening.”
