Changes what can be disposed of at the Edzell community recycling centre will take effect later this month according to Angus Council.

From Monday, November 21, the centre will no longer provide skips for general waste, garden waste and cardboard.

It was agreed by the local authority’s Communities committee in May that they would no longer service the skips at the centre in Edzell. This followed a wide-ranging review into waste management services and forms part of savings made necessary by budgetary pressures.

Containers for mixed recycling (paper, glass, plastic bottles, cans and cardboard) will remain on site. The Edzell Village Improvement Society will continue to manage the site, which includes the group’s scrap metal container and clothes/textile bank.

Edzell households can take their general waste, garden waste and cardboard to Brechin Recycling Centre, Commerce Street, DD9 7BD.
