The Dalhousie Centre’s charity coffee morning, held on Saturday, September 20, was a stellar success.
Under the leadership of Maggie Grieg, staff, board, family and friends raised £1,012 in aid of the comfort fund for those who attend the Dalhousie Centre. This will help provide entertainment, trips, equipment and craft materials to satisfy the interests of all attendees.
Many local businesses and individuals were extremely generous in their donations for the stalls, raffle and guessing game as well as substantial cash sums.
Once the proceeds were tallied, a rather emotional Maggie commented: “I am absolutely overwhelmed by the sum raised and all the support from the community. Little did I imagine when I suggested the coffee morning just how successful it would be.
“My colleagues and family gave unstinting support through the build-up to and on the day of the event. I’d like to thank board members for having faith in me by giving me the go ahead and those who contributed in various ways.”
Joy Mowatt, Vice Chairman added: “On behalf of the board and users of the centre I want to say a massive thank you to Maggie for everything she has done and to everyone who gave their support.
“Now in our 27th year supporting older members of our community, it is encouraging to know how much the Dalhousie Centre is valued by local people. Maggie not resting on her laurels. Her next project us to hold a pre-Christmas craft fair in the centre. Watch this space for further information!”
