Brechin’s veteran rugby team joined up with local youth charity Hedzup Racing to hold a very successful fund-raising initiative for both organisations.
The event – led by the BRUCE team – was held in the Bridgend Bar on October 26, and was very well attended by people with connections to both clubs.
A spokesperson for the club said: “In all, there were eight races held and great thanks go to Hammerfield Contract, The Co-operative, Earthfire Energy, Lawrie Demolition, MAFPRFC Mammoths, MBP Paving, Land Management Scotland and Mike and Donna Reid for sponsoring all of the races and putting up some truly great prizes.
“Thanks go to Alan Irvine of Fridge Discos for hosting the night, his smooth running of the event and ability to work out the odds for each race were invaluable on the night. As always, a big thanks goes to the Bridgend Bar and all of the staff for their support of these events, and their willingness to help with the fun and antics that occur.”

“There are a lot of similarities’ between our two youth teams, though the sports are very different the ethos is the same, to allow youths the opportunity to see the benefits of being part of a team as well as the fact that hard work, respect and manners will always help you get further be it in sport, work, school or within the wider community.
