THE FAMILY of a Ninewells patient who passed away in December, handed over a cheque earlier this month for £62,000 to staff at the ward who looked after him.
Richard Fyffe McArtney (known as Dick) was diagnosed with prostate cancer in May, 2010, and passed away on the morning of December 27, 2010, aged 84, in Ward 32 at Ninewells.
Dick worked in the rail service all his life starting his career as an apprentice fitter with London and North Eastern Railway before becoming Tay Bridge fitter, shed foreman and station manager.
Dick left a legacy of £62,427.43 to Ward 32.
Dick’s brother Innes, nephew Ian and solicitor Murray Etherington handed over the cheque to Ward 32 senior charge nurse Lynne Clarke.
