Edzell Golf Club recently welcomed guests from China, as part of an Angus tour of golf courses.

David Valentine, managing director of Valentine International, met with club professional Alastair Webster and toured the golf course with Li Weijian from the China Golf Channel, along with Li Yifan and cameraman Chen Tingren.

Mr Valentine had built existing links with some of China’s largest golf media companies and had co-produced 10 films with the China Golf Channel in February this year which have now been broadcast as a series of short 10-minute films about golf heritage in ‘Scotland - the Home of World Golf’.

He explained that through his long-standing personal friendship with the owner of the China Golf Channel, he was fortunate in bringing over their most famous celebrity host Li Weijian to Scotland: “Until now most golfers from China have wanted to play only the trophy courses especially the Old Course in St Andrews.

‘‘However, a growing number of them are now thinking more about playing some of the other courses.”
