BRAVO Brechin is set to host its popular Christmas in the City event this Saturday (November 29).

A whole range of events are scheduled throughout the day - including the all important Christmas Lights switch on at 4 p.m. by STV news reader Chris Harvey and Santa.

Several venues will be hosting different activities throughout the day. The City Hall will be hosting a Craft Fayre from 10 a.m. to 4 p.m., with teas, coffee and cakes available from 10 a.m. to 12 noon and soup from noon to 2 p.m. Santa will also be making a highly anticipated return to the town, with a Grotto at Brechin Town House Museum from 12 noon to 3 p.m., with entry at £3 per child and the option for a picture with Santa, priced at £2.50 for a digital image or £4 for a photo which can be collected the following week from the Museum.

There will be a variety of entertainment performances - including musical numbers - during the day on the High Street. Performances will be taking place from 12 noon and will feature Brechin Brass Band, Brechin Churches Together Choir, Thai Chi Demonstration, Brechin High School Choir, Belly Dancing Performance, The Ground We Tread, Maisondieu Primary School Choir, Lori-Jane Ferries, Brechin Panto and Brechin Pipe Band.

Church Street will be home to a number of stalls during the event, including face painting, food stalls, toy stalls and traditional farm stalls.

Saturday will also be the judging day of the popular window competition. Business and shops are urged to decorate with a specific theme, and the competition will be judged by Chris Harvey. Last year’s winner was Smallworld in Clerk Street.
