Details of the civic funeral of Provost of Angus Helen Oswald have been announced.
The funeral of the Provost of Angus will take place on Friday, October 21 at 1pm at Carnoustie Church.
Mrs Oswald lost her battle against cancer yesterday.
Earlier this summer Provost Oswald announced she had been diagnosed with cancer in 2015.
She was an SNP councillor and was elected to Angus Council in 1999.
Mrs Oswald first represented the Sidlaw East constituency and then in 2007 became one of the three ward councillors for Carnoustie and District.
Mrs Oswald became Provost of Angus in May 2012.
During her 17 years with Angus Council she sat on all committees, including Angus Licensing Board; the police, fire and rescue and valuation joint boards; Tayside Contracts; and various outside organisations, including Carnoustie Golf Links Management Committee.
Tributes to the Provost poured out yesterday.
Leader of Angus Council Iain Gaul praised her courage, dignity and dedication.
He said: “Angus has lost a distinguished and well respected Provost.
“The Carnoustie area has lost a hard working councillor.
“I have lost a well-loved friend.”
Chief executive of the council Richard Stiff said she “championed the needs of constituents”.
