The Brechin group of Contact the Elderly celebrated Christmas early, with a special festive lunch at Brechin Castle Garden Centre.
A spokesperson for the group explained: “Elderly guests and volunteers from the group enjoyed a delicious lunch prepared by chef Craig, and served by Rachel and Jane.
“The food and service were so good that Craig, Rachel and Jane were asked to join in for a photograph and given a round of applause.”
Following their lunch, the members then did some Christmas shopping and finished off with coffee and cakes.
Contact the Elderly will be celebrating it’s 50th birthday on April 19, 2015, and to mark the occasion, the four Angus groups (Brechin, Forfar, Montrose and Kirriemuir) will be celebrating with a tea party.
Contact the Elderly aims to alleviate loneliness in the elderly through monthly tea parties, where each older person is collected from their home by a volunteer driver and taken to a volunteer host’s home for the afternoon.
